The playmaker's current deal with Juventus is set to expire at the end of the season, and bar an unexpected turn of events, the Albiceleste international is not likely to sign a new deal at the Allianz Stadium.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Dybala is keen to take his talents to the Spanish capital and play for his compatriot Diego Simeone at Atletico Madrid.
Despite the Bianconeri's willingness to offer him a deal that is less than what was agreed at the beginning of the season, it seems there is now no chance of a breakthrough in those negotiations.
With the January signing of Dusan Vlahovic, the Italian giants appear to have invested in the future, while Atletico is looking to solidify their attack in a similar manner.
Los Rojiblancos are reportedly planning to add Dybala to an already thin forward line. With Luis Suarez's contract concluding at the end of the season and loanee Antoine Griezmann set to return to Barcelona, perhaps Simeone sees Dybala as the next great striker in the legacy of the club.
The Argentine will be joining up with some national team colleagues at the Wanda Metropolitano should he decide to sign with the reigning LaLiga champions, with Rodrigo De Paul and Angel Correa already well-established members of the Atleti squad.
However, the Spanish club will be up against stiff competition to sign the 28-year-old as Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are also heavily linked with a move for the attacker.
