News emanating from Italy suggests that Paulo Dybala is set to link up with Jose Mourinho and become AS Roma's newest signing.
Dybala's move to the Italian capital is set to be completed soon, with the Argentine believed to be on the verge of signing with the five-time Scudetto winners. The diminutive playmaker has reportedly penned a deal that will see the Stadio Olimpico become his home for the next three years.
The Giallorossi are understood to have beaten out the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan and Napoli for Dybala's services after the forward's contract with Juventus expired last month.
According to Sky Italia, the 28-year-old is currently in Portugal, where the Italian club is currently for pre-season, as he looks to meet his new teammates for the first time and put pen to paper on a contract that will reportedly see him earn €6 million (R103 million) a year.
Mourinho has apparently been integral to Dybala's expected arrival at Roma, having called the 2021 Copa America winner to explain his project to him recently.
Having been aggrieved by the lack of incomings in Rome, the Portuguese tactician appears to have pushed the club's general manager Tiago Pinto to make the Dybala signing.
It almost seemed a formality that Dybala would be an Inter Milan player at the beginning of the window, but because the Nerazzurri prioritised the re-signing of Romelu Lukaku on loan, the only way Inter could afford the five-time Serie A winner is if they off-loaded more attackers.
Roma have already signed Zeki Celik, Nemanja Matic and Mile Svilar in this window, and Dybala will almost certainly be added to the list soon.
The Argentine scored 115 goals in 293 appearances across all competitions for Juventus during his seven-year stint at the Allianz Stadium.
