Reports suggest that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is "one step away" from joining a new team for the 2022/23 season.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Paul Pogba is on the verge of making yet another spectacular return to a club he once played for, this time to Juventus.
The Frenchman is reportedly close to heading back to the club where he made a name of himself as one of the planet's best midfielders.
All that is reportedly left for the deal to be concluded is for Juve's hierarchy and the player's representatives to finalise what is believed will be a three-year deal worth €7.5 million (R125 million) a year, a figure that would make Pogba one of the highest earners at the Bianconeri.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner reportedly declined a lucrative offer from his native France, turning down a guaranteed €15 million (R250 million) a year from Paris Saint-Germain to play under Massimiliano Allegri once again.
Given the expected exits of Giorgio Chiellini, Federico Bernardeschi and Paulo Dybala, the Old Lady will be in the market for talent that will help them once again challenge for the Scudetto after a sub-par 2021/22 season in which they finished fourth in the league.
Angel Di Maria is another player, who like Pogba, is also reportedly close to wearing the famous black and white of Juve next season. The Argentine's deal may take longer than the Frenchman's, but both players are said to have given the thumbs-up to the move.
Should he return to Italy, Pogba will be hoping his second stint in Turin is as successful as his first, during which he won four straight Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias and two Supercoppa Italianas.
The 29-year-old was also at his most productive in Italy, where he manage to find the back of the net 34 times and provided 40 assists in 178 appearances under Antonio Conte and Allegri at Juve.
