Pogba Explains Juve Move After Man Utd Exit

Paul Pogba

France international Paul Pogba has explained what led him to rejoining Juventus after he decided to run his contract down at Manchester United earlier this year.

Following a six-year stay at the Red Devils, the 29-year-old returned to the Bianconeri, where he had developed into one of the sport's brightest young talents between 2012 and 2016.

Although he has not made his second debut for Juve due to injury, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner believes it was his heart that convinced him to go back to the Old Lady, and admitted his last three seasons at United were underwhelming.

"I like to think and say that it is my heart that made the choice. It was also perhaps the right time to come back here [to Juventus]," he told GQ Italia.

"The last three years in Manchester, also affected by injuries, have not gone as I wanted, it is no mystery. I thought that if we added to this the fact that Juve have also arrived for two years in which they did not win the Scudetto, it was a good challenge for both of us.

"And maybe it was the right time to meet again and try to take back the place that belongs to us, to me and to Juve. And above all to win again.

"I always want to play, and I want to give my best. And deep inside I know this [Juventus] shirt is special, it brings out my best. We have built a good history with this team, which I have never forgotten even when I left Juve.

"Coming back here is always a motivation for me, an incentive to do well. I never had any doubts that this was my place."

Pogba's Brother In Custody Amid Blackmail Accusations

Pogba is currently recovering from a knee injury that threatens to see him ruled out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup, though it has been suggested he is currently ahead of schedule in his rehabilitation.
