Official: Jose Mourinho Signs Manchester United Star

Jose Mourinho has successfully lured one of his former Manchester United players to Roma, it has been confirmed.

The Italian club has announced the arrival of veteran midfielder Nemanja Matic on a one-year contract, with an option to extend for a further 12 months. 

The ex-Serbia international's departure from the Red Devils was recently confirmed, along with more players whose deals are set to expire at the end of this month, including Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard. 

Matic, who has been signed twice before by Mourinho, first at Chelsea and then at United, made just 32 appearances across all competitions this past season as he fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

The 33-year-old becomes Roma's first signing ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, with the club hoping to build on the success of winning the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy in May.
