'The Special One' could not resist firing shots at his Italian counterpart following his side's 1-1 draw in the Europa Conference League to Dutch side Vitesse.
The 59-year-old is notorious for his mind games, and, while speaking on a congested fixture schedule for the Giallorossi, Mourinho saw an opportunity to belittle his rivals ahead of an always hotly-contested Derby della Capitale.
The Portuguese poked at Sarri's need to indulge in nicotine.
"Obviously, I am not happy that we played today with many players who will also have to be there on Sunday, while tonight Lazio are home smoking cigarettes with Sarri, but it's because Vitesse are really good," Mourinho said after Roma progressed to the quarter-final stages of the competition, per the Daily Mail.
"Now Sarri is at home smoking his cigarette while I go home trying to think how we can recover from this for Sunday".
The former Napoli boss' smoking habits are well documented, with Sarri himself admitting to smoking 60 cigarettes a day.
This weekend's clash could prove critical in the race for European football for both sides. Roma is only one point behind the Biancocelesti, and Mourinho will be looking to gain any advantage possible in his side's effort to play continental competition next season.
