Napoli manager Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly conceded that the historical gulf between them and Juventus is too big to overcome.
The Top 11 Most Dangerous Attacking Duos So Far This Season
Italian clubs such as AC Milan and Inter Milan have made numerous attempt to end the Serie A title hegemony by Bianconeri over the last seven years but none have succeeded. Napoli made serious headway in the last three years under current Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri, but they too could not wrestle the title away from the Old Lady. Sarri's successor at Gli Azzuri, Ancelotti has reportedly admitted that they are far away from being on the level of Massimiliano Allegri's charges. "I think each of us must motivate ourselves not measuring ourselves against others, but measuring against ourselves," the former Real Madrid boss was quoted as saying by FourFourTwo. "If you want to become [Lionel] Messi then your path in influenced by genetics. But you can train every day to be better. "It's the same when it comes to the squad. If I say that we have to commit ourselves to beating Juve, it's an objective too far away. "I'm here to win. The objective is to have a team which fights until the end of the season." Juventus have won the last seven Serie A titles and looks set to claim their eighth straight Scudetto as they remain unbeaten this season having won 16 of their 17 league matches so far. Napoli have been quitely brilliant this campaign as they are only eight points behind Bianconeri, in the second place in Serie A but the aura of invincibility from the Old Lady is overshadowing their progress under Ancelotti, as was the case with Sarri at Gli Azzurri for the past three years.
