During the 2021/22 season, Inter Milan were chasing a domestic double when they came up against city rivals AC Milan in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
I Nerazzurri would claim a 2-1 victory on that occasion, but not before Lukaku and Ibrahimovic nearly came to blows during the encounter. This coming Friday, the two will meet with each other for the first time since that Italian Cup tie when Belgium travel to the Friends Arena to take on the Scandinavians.
The 41-year-old Ibrahimovic has, however, talked down any lasting animosity between him and his former Manchester United colleague, claiming that this week's qualifier will be a "normal game" in a "tough group".
A lot has happened since that clash, with the former Ajax Amsterdam, Barcelona and Manchester United forward recently returning from a lengthy spell on the sidelines after recovering from an ACL injury, but has said that retiring was never in his plans despite suffering such a severe setback.
"Leaving Milan after the title would have been too easy," Sweden's all-time top goalscorer said, as per Goal.

"I am here to make the difference, if not I wouldn't be here. I was celebrated for being the oldest goalscorer in Serie A, but I don't want records because I am old, I want them because I am myself.
"I don't want to talk about my age, I have a lot to show to prove to those who thought I was finished that they were wrong."
