The 26-year-old forward decided to urinate on the side of the field before he was supposed to be substituted on and was caught by one of the match officials.
As a result, Bunino was shown a straight red card for the incident, although his coach Luciano Foschi did not agree with the punishment.
"It's the rules and they must be applied, but I was hoping that the officials would use common sense because he didn't offend anyone and no one saw it," Foschi told Gazzetta dello Sport.
"I was hoping for a yellow card, but the referee didn't make a mistake. And Bunino? In my opinion, he didn't even know what was going to happen."
Lecco would go on to draw the encounter 0-0 with Piacenza on Sunday afternoon.
