Inter Milan were dumped out of the Coppa Italia, after suffering a 2-1 defeat to Lazio at the San Siro on Tuesday evening.
Inter nearly broke the deadlock after four minutes as Antonio Candreva picked out Ivan Perisic, who wide of the upright from close range.
The hosts went even closer after 16 minutes as Geoffrey Kondogbia rattled the post with a venomous effort from the edge of the box.
However, it was Lazio who took the lead in the 20th minute when Felipe Anderson headed home Senad Lulic's cross.
Despite going a goal down, Inter continued to see most of the ball, but were guilty of making silly mistakes, none of which were punished by Lazio.
The score remained 1-0 to Lazio at the halftime break.
However, Lazio were handed a penalty 10 minutes into the second half when Ciro Immoble was brought down by Miranda, who was shown a straight red.
Lucas Biglia stepped up and thumped his spot-kick past Samir Handanovic to double the visitors' lead, 2-0.
Lazio opted for a double change after 70 minutes as Jordan Lukaku and Sergej Savic replaced Anderson and Lulic.
The visitors were reduced to 10 men in the 76th minute when Stefan Radu was given his marching orders for picking up a second yellow card.
Inter pulled a goal back through Marcel Brozovic in the 84th minute, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation, as Lazio held on for the win.
