Ahead of Real Madrid's UEFA Champions League tie with Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night, manager Zinedine Zidane has admitted that he has "been in love with striker Kylian Mbappe for a long time".
The 20-year-old forward has been heavily linked with Los Blancos for a number of years, and Zidane has never been shy to express his desire to see the young superstar wear Real's famous white jersey one day.
Mbappe himself has flirted with a switch to the Spanish giants, but in the build-up to Real's second UCL tie with the French giants in Group A on Tuesday, Zidane admitted he has been a long-time admirer of the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.
"I've known him for a long time," he said, according to Sport.
"I've been in love with him for a long time, but as a person first.
"He came here for a trial a long time ago. Tomorrow, he comes here as an opponent.
"What's important to me is what we are going to do, though. We know the player he is and his importance to his team. We have to be ready."
Mbappe's 2019/20 season has been slightly disrupted by injury, with the player having only played 12 matches across all competitions for PSG so far, scoring nine goals and assisting a further four strikes.
