Reports: Real Madrid Identify Cristiano Ronaldo Replacement

Real Madrid have spent an incredible €500 million (R8.9 billion) since Cristiano Ronaldo left the club, but are yet to find a proper replacement for the superstar. However, they have now reportedly identified their next scoring machine.

Click through the mini-gallery above to see which forwards Real have signed since Ronaldo left, and how many goals they have scored.

Ronaldo joined Juventus in a move worth €117 million (R2 billion) in July 2018, leaving a massive gap in the club's strike force.

Karim Benzema has stepped up to soften the blow, but there is no player coming close to Ronaldo's returns for Los Blancos, with the Portuguese forward netting, on average, 40 goals or more per season in Spain.

Eden Hazard, who is currently sidelined with an ankle injury, has taken over the Portugal captain's No. 7 shirt, but is yet to fulfil expectations at the Santiago Bernabeu, while Luka Jovic has struggled since joining the club.

Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Mariano Diaz are the other forwards who have been signed since Ronaldo left, but none of them have scored regularly for Real.

Meanwhile, Erling Haaland has taken the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League by storm this season.

The 19-year-old has scored 40 goals in just 31 games across all competitions for Red Bull Salzburg and Borussia Dortmund, whom he joined in January, so far in this campaign.

His fine form has not gone unnoticed in Madrid, with Los Blancos' bosses now seeing him as potential replacement for Ronaldo.

Haaland's father recently claimed that a massive number of clubs are interested in the Norway striker, and added that his son could end up in LaLiga at some point.

"We were linked to more than 100 teams, but it is true that LaLiga is a very good league for my son, with great teams," Alfe-Inge Haaland told AS.

"You never know if he will play in Spain. What has to happen, will happen."
