Real Madrid have reportedly made a decision on their African star's desire to represent his nation at the upcoming Olympic Games.

According to Sport, Los Blancos have denied winger Brahim Diaz the opportunity to represent Morocco at the global spectacle in Paris.

After the Malaga native changed his international allegiance earlier this year from Spain to the Atlas Lions, the Royal Moroccan Football Federation was said to be keen to reserve one of their over-age spots for the Los Blancos man, with Diaz himself eager to accumulate more international experience with the north Africans.

However, that will not be the case as Real have vetoed his participation at the Games.

The men's football tournament at the Olympics will run from 26 July to 9 August, and because Real's first competitive match next season will be against UEFA Europa League champions Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup on 14 August, the Spanish giants want to have as many of their stars available to them as soon as possible.

The UEFA European Championship and the Copa America will already prevent some Los Merengues stars from the start of their pre-season, depending on how far their nations go in said competitions, with the beginning of their preparations for the 2024/25 campaign scheduled to start on 15 July.

As a consequence, the same report claims that all the Real players who are eligible to play in the Olympics will not be allowed to participate.

New signing Kylian Mbappe has already confirmed that Los Blancos would not allow him to play in the Olympic Games in his native Paris, and it now seems Diaz has been added to the list.
