Despite being in the midst of an injury crisis, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has explained why the club decided against reinforcing their squad this past January transfer window.
Mourinho: Osimhen Is As Good As Drogba But...
A few crucial members of the Los Blancos squad continue to miss games for the record European champions as they struggle with various muscle injuries.
It is because of this that many Madridistas perhaps thought the LaLiga club would bolster their squad, but the Santiago Bernabeu witnessed no new incomings in the latest window.
Aurelien Tchouameni, David Alaba, Lucas Vazquez and Dani Carvajal have all missed at least five successive games, leaving Real light in their defensive areas.
The injuries come at an inopportune time for the reigning Spanish champions as they look to claw back the eight-point lead Barcelona have opened up in LaLiga, while there is also a UEFA Champions League round of 16 clash with Liverpool on the horizon.
Real manager Ancelotti has since explained why he saw no need to strengthen the squad last month.
"We didn't dip into the winter market because we didn't need to," the Italian tactician told members of the media, as per Goal.
"If you plan your squad well in summer, then you don't need to use the winter market.
"When you sign in January, it means something has happened, which could be an injury, but we're fine."

While he has confidence in the Real players currently available to him, he did condemn their upcoming fixture schedule.
"This club doesn't take any matches off and we try to win every competition," he added.
"But, the schedule is too much and there is a limit."
