Saudi Arabia To 'Change Laws' For Messi Salary

Saudi Arabia To 'Change Laws' For Messi Salary

Lionel Messi will reportedly be offered a lucrative contract by Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal.

Saudi Arabia are reportedly willing to change their laws to allow Lionel Messi to be handed a blockbuster contract in the Middle East following Cristiano Ronaldo's arrival in January.

Messi 'Demands' €600M To Reunite With Ronaldo

Rumours in recent days suggest the 35-year-old is still being courted by Al Hilal, rivals of Ronaldo's Al Nassr in the Saudi Pro League.

It has been claimed that Al Hilal initially wanted to sign Ronaldo but could not due to a transfer ban, and are now planning "revenge" on Al Nassr by pursuing a deal for the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.

Spanish publication Marca reports that Saudi Arabia as a nation would be willing to ease their restrictions on salary limits to accommodate for the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner, as they did with Ronaldo.

The outlet claims Messi will be offered a staggering €220 million a year in the Middle East, with his long-time rival believed to be earning around €196 million a year at Al Nassr.

A relationship between the former Barcelona captain and Saudi Arabia has already been established after the player agreed to become an ambassador for the country's bid to host the 2030 World Cup.

Messi's current contract at Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the season amid reports that he has not yet decided where he will play his football beyond June 2023.
