CWC Offer On The Cards For Ronaldo?

With Cristiano Ronaldo's future at Al Nassr reportedly up in the air, new reports suggest that the Portuguese legend could feature at this year's FIFA Club World Cup.

Ronaldo's contract at Al Nassr is set to expire on 30 June 2025 and, after a trophyless campaign in the 2024/25 season, there are reports that the five-time Ballon D'Or winner could be tempted with a move away from the club.

According to Spanish publication Marca, tensions between player and club have reportedly reached boiling point and the lack of success could lead to the two sides parting ways.

Dubbed an "earthquake in the club", all structures of the club are now affected by the ongoing tension, with the club reportedly not willing to extend the ex-Juventus forward's contract.

The publication reported further that Ronaldo's entourage has received a lucrative offer from a Brazilian side playing in this year's FIFA Club World Cup.

According to ESPN, Botafogo's head coach Renato Paiva addressed the rumours that the former Real Madrid man could join his team for the tournament.

"Christmas is only in December," he jokingly said in a press conference.

"But if he came, you can't say no to a star like that. I don't know anything. I'm just answering the question. But, as I said, coaches always want the best. Ronaldo, even at his age, is still a goal-scoring machine. In a team that creates chance after chance, he would be good," Paiva added.

The Brazilian added that the only person in a position to say whether the Ronaldo rumours were true was the club's American owner John Textor.

"This question needs to be asked in another language," he said.
