In 2011, Coca-Cola permanently ended its relationship with then-Manchester United player Rooney, who was initially dropped from company's ad campaigns following allegations over his private life.
It was alleged a year earlier that the former England international had cheated on his wife with a sex worker, although the soft drink company did not act immediately.
However, further action was taken after Rooney gave a foul-mouthed rant into a television camera after completing a hat-trick during a Premier League encounter against West Ham United, with the brand then reportedly calling time on the relationship with him altogether.
This week, it was confirmed that France and West Ham United defender Kurt Zouma lost his adidas endorsement deal after a shocking video of the player kicking and slapping his pet cat while making friends laugh did the rounds online.
"We have concluded our investigation and can confirm Kurt Zouma is no longer an adidas contracted athlete," the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Frenchman being dropped by the manufacturing powerhouse comes just days after Nike announced that its contract with Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood was terminated amid the ongoing investigation into claims he sexually assaulted an ex-girlfriend.
Meanwhile, in 2019, a Nike employee claimed she had been sexually harassed by Neymar in 2016 when he was still a Barcelona player, which led to a series of events that saw the current Paris Saint-Germain star's relationship with the famous sports brand ultimately end.
According to ABC News, Neymar later wrote on Instagram: "I was not given the opportunity to defend myself. I was not given the opportunity to know who this person was that was allegedly offended. I don't even know her.

"I never had any kind of relationship or approach with this person. I didn't even have a chance to talk to her, to know the real reasons for her pain. That person, an employee, was not protected. I, a sponsored athlete, was not protected."
