Real Madrid superstar and 2017 Ballon d'Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped to 49th position in the most valuable players ranking, with Neymar and Lionel Messi both being valued more than double as much as the Portuguese.

The International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), a Swiss-based football statistics institute, has published a report on the transfer values of Europe's top players.
Multiple variables were taken into consideration, including player performances, age, contract length and potentially interested clubs.
In CIES' latest edition of their ranking, Neymar remained at the top with a value of €213 million (R3.17 billion), while Ronaldo dropped from seventh to 49th position with €80.4 million (R1.19 billion).
Lionel Messi sits in second place with €202.2 million (R3 billion), ahead of Harry Kane, who is valued at €194.7 million (R2.89 billion), and Kylian Mbappe with €192.5 million (R2.86 billion).
Paulo Dybala completes the top five highest valued players with a value of €174.6 million (R2.59 billion).
Dele Alli's worth is said to be €171.3 million (R2.55 billion) while Kevin De Bruyne's value is €167.8 million (R2.49 billion), according to CIES. They follow in sixth and seventh spot respectively, before Romelu Lukaku, with €164.8 million (R2.45 billion), Antoine Griezmann, with €150.2 million (R2.23 billion), and Paul Pogba, with €147.5 million (R2.19 billion), complete the top 10.

Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Luis Suarez and Marcus Rashford are also among the highest valued players, while Mohamed Salah is the only African in the top 15.
