Neymar 'Decides' PSG Future Amid Lionel Messi Exit Rumours

Neymar 'Decides' PSG Future Amid Lionel Messi Exit Rumours

Neymar wants to stay at PSG irrespective of whether Lionel Messi decides to extend with the club or not

With close friend and 2022 FIFA World Cup winner Lionel Messi said to be leaning towards a Paris Saint-Germain exit, Neymar has reportedly decided his future in the French capital.

Italy 'Ask' For Ex-Real Madrid Star To Be Jailed In Brazil

The Brazilian's deal at the Parc des Princes is said to run until 2027, and according to L'Equipe, the most expensive football player of all time intends to honour his contract with the record Ligue 1 champions.

Much of his PSG career to date has been interrupted by a number of injuries, and the 31-year-old is once again out of action due to a sprained ankle sustained on the weekend. The injury has the attacker in a race against time to be fit for the second leg of Les Parisiens' pivotal UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie against Bayern Munich in two weeks' time, having lost the first leg 1-0.

Neymar is understood to be determined to help the French club win its first-ever Champions League title, and will be staying at the club whether or not Messi decides to extend his deal in France, per the abovementioned French publication.

Both the Brazilian and the Argentine could leave the club together in the next window, with rumours suggesting the 31-year-old Brazil talisman has been placed on PSG's transfer list.

However, finding a buyer for the Mogi das Cruzes native will not be an easy task given his hefty salary. Wealthy clubs such as Chelsea and Newcastle United would likely be able to afford his reported €1 million (R35 million) wages, but the same report suggests that Neymar will only consider a move to the Premier League at the age of 35.

Brazil's all-time top goalscorer will have been at PSG for 10 years should he successfully see out his contract, but he is already considered to be among the best players ever to have donned the Ligue 1 giants' jersey.
