Lionel Messi has caused a stir at Paris Saint-Germain after reportedly leaving France for a trip behind his manager's back.

According to French news outlet L'Equipe, the 35-year-old left for Saudi Arabia on Monday following PSG's shock 3-1 home defeat to Lorient despite head coach Christophe Galtier and sporting director Luis Campos disapproving his request to do so.
The Argentine is an ambassador for the Middle Eastern country, who are hoping to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, and is believed to have felt he could not delay his most recent trip there.
While Galtier and Camps reportedly did not want Messi leaving, as it meant he would miss a training session, the playmaker was said to go over their heads to successfully seek approval from the club's management.
PSGTalk points out that it is actions such as these that continue to frustrate supporters, many of whom feel players in the first-team squad can do whatever they want and get away with it.
The report further claims that Galtier would have been happy to grant his team two days' rest if they had beaten Lorient on the weekend, but their defeat meant the players were given just a single day off.

Messi's future in Paris is heavily uncertain at the moment, amid reports he could return to Barcelona at the end of this season as a free agent.
