FC Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has explained why he and teammate Lionel Messi have such a close friendship.
Messi: I Could've Joined Another Club
The two South Americans have become a deadly duo in front of goals for the Catalan giants, helping the club win a historic treble last season.
Suarez is delighted to be playing alongside the Argentine maestro, and feels their South American roots helps them get on so well.
"It's a privilege to play alongside the best player in the world," the Uruguayan told El Observador.
"Everything he does is admirable.
"Somebody from Uruguay and someone from Argentina have very similar ways of living on a day-to-day basis.
"We drink (South American caffeine-based drink) mate together, we know the same culture, we're the same age and we talk about things from when we were younger.
"To distract ourselves away from the pitch is always nice."
Messi: Why I Don't Sing Argentina National Anthem
Suarez has scored 19 goals in 22 appearances for the Blaugrana so far this season, while Messi has scored 11 times in 16 matches.
