FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has clearly outshone his long-standing rival Cristiano Ronaldo since the turn of the year.

The 27-year-old has seen a revival in form following his start on the bench in the 1-0 defeat to David Moyes' Real Sociedad, and allegedly clashing with Luis Enrique the next day.
Ever since, Messi has scored an impressive eight goals and assisted a further five in just five games. Ronaldo, meanwhile, has scored four goals and assisted one over the same period.
The Portuguese also couldn't prevent his side's Copa del Rey exit against Atletico Madrid, while Messi ensured a 1-0 first-leg lead going into the second-leg tomorrow night.
The Argentine is likely to close the gap in the La Liga goal-scoring charts even further, after Ronaldo got sent off against Cordoba on the weekend.
Messi currently has 21 goals to his name, while Ronaldo is seven strikes ahead of him following his great start to the season.
Since the beginning of the year, Messi has scored six league goals, while Ronaldo has only scored three.

Neymar is third in the La Liga goalscoring charts, with three in 2015 and an overall number of 14 league goals so far.
