The Argentinian star admitted that he has been frustrated because of all of his missed penalties in crucial games, and suggested that it's more difficult as goalkeepers do a lot of homework on him.
"Yes there is a lot of frustration that I have missed a lot of penalties, both for the club and for Argentina," he told FC Barcelona.
"I am the designated penalty taker, but when the goalkeepers study you they know your ideas more.
"It is true to say that a well-taken penalty is very difficult to stop, but now it's more complicated when it comes to taking a penalty."
However, despite being disappointed with his rued chances, Messi is happy that Barcelona play so regularly, which allows him to move on quickly.
"But like everything in football, we are fortunate that every three days there is another game - you cannot keep regretting what happened," he added.
The 27-year-old has already missed four chances from the spot this term, including his miss against Manchester City in the Champions League, and against Brazil in an international friendly.
