Argentina 1-0 Peru

The 2021 Copa America champions continued their impressive run in World Cup qualifying, beating Peru on Friday morning to claim their seventh win from 11 matches.

Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez was on target yet again for the Albiceleste when he found the back of the net in the 43rd minute after getting on the end of a cross from right-back Nahuel Molina.

In the 65th minute, Peru had a chance to equalise from the penalty spot, but Yoshimar Yotun shmashed his effort against the crossbar, with goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez retaining his excellent record in goal in penalty situations.

Although Argentina ended the game having dominated in terms of possession and chances created, Messi cut a frustrated figure following the clash and even vented his annoyance on social media after the game.

"Difficult match, difficult to play. A lot of wind, they were playing deep, leaving little space for us," he wrote via Instagram, according to Sports Max.

"The referee always does this when he referees us, as if he does it on purpose. But well, three important points and we're close to our objective."

Brazil 4-1 Uruguay

Going into the tie, Neymar was on a dry run of scoring just one goal in his past seven international matches, but returned to form on Friday morning after finding the back of the net and providing an assist for a colleague.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward broke the deadlock just 10 minutes in before Leeds United's Raphinha, who has made a fine start to his international career, doubled the Selecao's lead moments later.

The 24-year-old made his debut for Brazil just last week and has already contributed to four goals in three appearances.

Raphinha then added a second in the 58th minute, with Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez pulling a goal back for Uruguay 13 minutes before the end of normal time. Six minutes later, Gabriel Barbosa struck after being set up by Neymar.
