Los Blancos reportedly made two bids for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner in the previous transfer window, but they were both rejected by the Ligue 1 outfit.
PSG director Leonardo was also upset with the way the Spanish giants conducted themselves over the past year in their attempt to persuade Mbappe to make the move.
The 22-year-old's contract expires at the end of this season, but he has now insisted he does not know where he will end up at the moment.
"I don't know," Mbappe said in an interview with Amazon Prime when asked about his future.
"Today, I have to take the time. It is not easy. Either way, I'll be playing for a big club.
"At first I was disappointed [not to leave]. But well, I am not in the third division, I am in a club that wants to win the Champions League.
"I am Parisian, I have my family, I feel good, I have always said it. I just wanted to discover something else."
