Miami had fallen behind after just two minutes through an own goal, but Messi equalised in the 11th minute and wrote his name in history.

The World Cup winner is the first player since Joao Plata in 2016 to score to register a goal or an assist in his first six league games.

The Barcelona legend went on to double Inter's lead shortly before the break to complete his brace on the night.

Sergio Busquest also got his name on the score-sheet to wrap up the content from the penalty spot on 81 minutes.

The win has taken Martino's side top of the Eastern Conference standings after ten games played.
