How Much Lionel Messi Earned In Bonuses Since 2017 Revealed?

How Much Lionel Messi Earned In Bonuses Since 2017 Revealed?

It has reportedly been revealed how much FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has earned in bonuses since signing his last contract in Spain in 2017.

With the 33-year-old not yet having signed a new deal at the Catalan club, rumours continue to suggest he will leave at the end of the season.

Barcelona, however, will reportedly continue to pay Messi in bonus clauses owed to the six-time Ballon d'Or winner which were agreed to four years ago.

According to Spanish publication Marca, the Argentine included bonuses of around €78 million (R1.4 billion) to be paid in two instalments.

Messi was said to have cashed in on the first instalment at the start of the season, and will still be paid out the other half of the amount, whether he is on Barcelona's books or not.

The publication has claimed the LaLiga top scorer will receive the second instalment in eight different payments over the next four years, starting in June this year.

Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain remain favourites for his signature should he leave, though there is still a chance the forward commits himself to the Blaugrana at the end of the season.

With a presidential election around the corner, there could be positive changes at the club that motivate Messi to continue with the Catalan giants, for whom he has scored 648 goals in 752 appearances.
