Felix Kroos: Lionel Messi Didn't Deserve It

Felix Kroos: Lionel Messi Didn't Deserve It

The brother of Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos, Felix, has insisted Lionel Messi did not deserve a place among the top three for The Best FIFA Men's Player 2020 award.

The Argentine finished third in the final ranking behind second-placed Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski in first spot, much to Felix Kroos' confusion.

In a recent interview, the Eintracht Braunschweig midfielder stated his belief that the six-time Ballon d'Or winner did not deserve a place among the final three as he did not perform very well in his eyes.

"Lewandowski absolutely deserves it," Kroos said, according to Einfach Mal Luppen.

"But, for me, Messi does not belong to the top 3 of The Best award because I think he didn't do well this year."

At club level, only Lewandowski contributed to more goals than Messi across all competitions in Europe's top five divisions, with the Polish forward playing a hand in 60 strikes compared to Messi's 52.
