In a recent interview, Spanish giants FC Barcelona's manager discussed the circumstances under which six-time Ballon d'Or winner Lionel Messi could leave the club.
Manager Quique Setien recently insisted he believes the 32-year-old will finish his career at the Blaugrana, but in a follow-up interview, the Spanish tactician had a different take on the matter.
The 61-year-old had since reportedly found out that Messi has the option of leaving Barcelona before the start of every season, something that has been public knowledge for a while.
Speaking on the Argentine's future once again, Setien said the only reason he thinks his captain would look to leave the club is if he believes the team is not headed in the right direction.
"If Messi didn't have it clearly in his head that Barcelona have a winning project, maybe he would go, but Barcelona are always looking to have a winning project," he told El Transistor on Onda Cero.
Setien also revealed he would not feel like a winner if the Catalan giants were handed the title because the LaLiga season is not completed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
"I think that's complicated, while things aren't cleared up and I prefer to stay at home," he said.
"If it has to be ended then the most normal thing would be to leave it as it is, but I would not feel like a champion."
