Casillas' situation is not clear, with the possible imminent arrival of David De Gea hovering over him. It is understood that the 34-year-old would prefer to leave the Bernabeu instead of playing second fiddle to De Gea.
Ramos, meanwhile, has reportedly fallen out with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez and has been linked to Manchester United.
With both the current captain and vice-captain possibly on their way out, Rafa Benitez would need to look for a replacement.
Reports in Spain suggest Real have an unofficial club rule of selecting the longest-serving player as captain, which would mean Marcelo would get the armband.
The Brazilian left-back joined the club in January 2007 and has already carried the armband in the absence of Casillas and Ramos before. Pepe would follow, but it is also claimed Real could change club policy to give Ronaldo more leadership.
