The 18-year-old is currently recovering from a serious knee injury that has kept him sidelined since November.
However, after being nominated for the Laureus Sport Awards' World Breakthrough of the Year prize, he spoke to Barcelona.com about several topics, including what Messi has taught him.
"It is a dream to play with the best player in the world and learn from him in training," he told Barcelona's official website.
"What advice has he given me? I try to transmit the same humility as he does.
"Despite all he has done, he is a very simple man, and the advice he gives is always about keeping your feet on the ground."
Fati was also asked for his five best football superstars, and named six, with Ronaldo being the only player he mentioned that has not played for Barcelona.
"That would be Victor Valdes, (Carles) Puyol, Xavi (Hernandez) or (Andres) Iniesta, Messi and Cristiano," he added.
Fati was born in Bissau, Guinea-Bissau but moved to Spain at the age of six and has represented the 2010 FIFA World Cup winners four times so far.
