After initially wanting to join Real Madrid, a French star has reportedly chosen to join Manchester United over the Spanish and European champions.

It had seemed as if Los Blancos were poised to land another young and highly-rated French talent this off-season.

Not keen on losing a player who is being dubbed as a generational talent for free when his contract expires next season, Lille accepted United's offer, and the central defender has since seemingly warmed up to the idea of playing at Old Trafford.
