The Old Trafford club took to its official Twitter account on Saturday to announce that the former Athletic Bilbao midfielder will bring an end to his five-year stay with the club at the end of the current season.
The 29-year-old, who apparently opted against signing a contract extension with the 20-time Premier League champions, is expected to join the Parisian giants on a free transfer upon the expiration of his deal with United on 30 June.
According to the Daily Mail, Herrera will earn in excess of £300 000 (R5.5 million) a week at PSG, which is far more than the £130 000 (R2.4 million) a week he reportedly earns at United.
Although the official figures for Herrera's move are yet to be confirmed, Red Devils fans are said to be incensed at Herrera being allowed to leave on a free while the club continues its efforts to lighten their wage bill by offloading players who are deemed to be overpaid.
