Man Utd 'Make' Greenwood Contract Decision

Man Utd 'Make' Greenwood Contract Decision

Manchester United have reportedly made a decision regarding loaned out attacker Mason Greenwood's contract in England.

Two years ago, the attacker was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape, assault, and coercive and controlling behaviour, but the 22-year-old is still on the books of the Red Devils after the charges were dropped in February 2023, leaving the England international free to continue his football career.

While many European clubs were likely afraid to take a punt on the scrutinised forward who had not played for 18 months, LALIGA outfit Getafe signed the Bradford native on a season-long loan at the beginning of the campaign.

The risk has so far paid off as Greenwood has managed to score eight goals and provide five assists in all competitions in Spain.

His performances for Pepe Bordalas' side have consequently garnered interest from other top teams on the continent.

Getafe themselves are also believed to be keen on retaining the young star's services.

With his current contract at Old Trafford expiring at the end of next season, the Red Devils, under normal circumstances, would likely have looked to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

However, the record Premier League winners have an option to extend his deal for a further year, and according to The Athletic, Getafe believe that United have already triggered this extension.

This would presumably give United more time to come up with a definitive decision regarding Greenwood's future, as well as the possibility of making more money from his potential sale at a later stage.
