With Marcus Rashford previously ruled out until April, Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has now made some concerning remarks about the striker's eventual return to fitness.
The 22-year-old was enjoying a spectacular individual campaign before picking up an injury that saw him ruled out until April.
With 19 goals and five assists in 31 matches to his name this season, Rashford was in the best form of his United career to date, but there is now a worry that he could miss the remainder of the campaign.
Solskjaer has admitted that, while he had hoped the England international would be back sooner than expected, it will now be a close call to see if he will feature again before the end of the season.
"I would hope Rashford is playing this season, but it'll just be touch and go towards the end," he said, according to the The Irish Independent.
"Hopefully we can get through this tournament and prolong the season. It takes time.
"I'm not a doctor, but obviously I was hoping he would recover quicker than it actually looks like he's going to be out so another few months definitely."
There are also concerns that Rashford will not be back in time for the 2020 UEFA European Championship, which could see England go to the tournament without both him and talismanic striker Harry Kane.
