Man Utd 'Identify' Three Stars To Replace Maguire

Man Utd 'Identify' Three Stars To Replace Maguire

Manchester United have reportedly identified three centre-backs who could potentially replace West Ham United-bound Harry Maguire.

With Harry Maguire rumoured to be on the verge of a Manchester United exit, the club has reportedly already identified three potential replacements.

The 30-year-old looks to be edging ever closer to a move to West Ham United after news emerged suggesting that the two clubs had reached an agreement in principle over a £30 million (R719 million) deal for the England international.

With Erik ten Hag thus looking for a central defender to take over from the Sheffield native, the Dutchman has identified Bayern Munich's Benjamin Pavard, Burkina Faso international Edmond Tapsoba and Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo as potential signings, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

As per RMC Sport, the Red Devils have held promising talks with Todibo over a move to Old Trafford but will face stiff competition from Juventus for the young Frenchman's signature.

In the case of Todibo's compatriot Pavard, the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner is now in the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena, and it is believed he does not plan on renewing his contract with Die Roten. The 27-year-old is also said to have held concrete talks with Ten Hag.

Tapsoba, meanwhile, has been the subject of interest from a number of Premier League clubs for a couple of seasons now, but of the three potential signings, he will likely be the hardest to attain given the prominence he has at Bayer Leverkusen and the three years that are still remaining on his current deal in Germany.

It is highly unlikely United will secure any of these players' services before their opening 2023/24 Premier League fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night, but what is clear is that Ten Hag is actively seeking a Maguire replacement.
