Following the clash, it emerged on social media that Garnacho had liked two posts on X (Formerly Twitter) criticising the manager for taking him off early in the game.

"Alejandro is a young player," Ten Hag said, as per Goal.

"Has to learn a lot. He has apologised for it and we move on."

United switch focus to the FA Cup semi-finals this weekend, which will be the club's only chance at silverware this season.

"Of course we want to win every game so when we don't win we are disappointed. We are frustrated but we know also we can beat the best teams," he added.

"We drew twice against Liverpool, we beat them in the FA Cup, we played very good against Chelsea. When we play to our levels we can achieve really high highs.

"Last season was last season. We want to achieve every season, we want to win trophies, we have a big opportunity. We are in a semi-final but it's a huge challenge. We know all the problems and when you have so many problems you have to find solutions and on Sunday we will find solutions and we want to go into the final."
