Marcus Rashford's stunning second-half free-kick handed Manchester United a 2-1 victory over Chelsea in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup.
Jesse Lingard and Brandon Williams earned starts for the Red Devils as Ashley Young and Adreas Pereira dropped to the bench, while Michy Batshuayi started ahead of Tammy Abraham for the Blues.
The Blues dominated from the onset at the Bridge as the Red Devils were happy to sit back and soak up the pressure, but Frank Lampard's troops were unable to carved out an opening.
However, the Red Devils were awarded a penalty after 24 minutes when Marcos Alonso was judged to have brought down Daniel James. Marcus Rashford, who had a penalty saved against Norwich City over the weekend, stepped up and sent Willy Caballero the wrong to hand United the lead.
Chelsea, meanwhile, were unable to recover the from the setback despite enjoying a lion's share of the possession, with Batshuayi cutting a frustrating figure upfront.
After a quiet start to the second half, the Blues were level on the hour mark as Batshuayi managed surge towards the box before drilling a fine finish beyond Sergio Romero.
However, the visitors were back in front with 20 minutes remaining as Rashford bagged his second of the night with a superb free-kick that sailed into th top corner.
Lampard threw on Abraham for the final 15 minutes, with Batshuayi making up front but the Red Devils were well marshalled at the back as they held on to secure a spot in the last eight.
