Saint-Etienne 1-0 Nice

Nice began their Ligue 1 campaign on a low note, as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Saint-Etienne at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Saturday evening.

Balotelli missed the clash through injury while Arsenal target, Jean Seri was suspended.

The game's only arrived as early as four minutes courtesy of a strike from Jonathan Bamba.

Olympique Lyonnais 4-0 Strasborg

Olympique Lyon laid down their marker for the season by thumping Strasborg 4-0 at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais on Saturday.

Former Real Madrid striker, Mario bagged a brace on debut while Nabil Fekir managed to net a brace of his own as Lyon moved to the top of Ligue 1.

Montpellier 1-0 Caen 

Montpellier began their season with three points after they registered a 1-0 win over Caen on Saturday evening.

Senegalese striker, Souleymane Camara struck in the 58th minute to lead his side to victory on the night.

Metz 1-3 Guingamp

Lebogang Phiri's Guingamp showed their intentions on the opening day as the defeated Metz 3-1 away from home.

Jimmy Briand, Ludovic Blas and Mustapha Diallo were all on target to lead the visitors to victory.

Marseille 3-0 Dijon

Cameroon international, Clinton N'Jie bagged a brace while Florian Thauvin also got on the score-sheet as Marseille cruised to a 3-0 win over Dijon on Sunday evening.
