Paris Saint-Germain dropped points for only the second time in Ligue 1 this season after playing to a goalless draw on Saturday night.
Ligue 1
Result: Reims 0-0 Paris Saint-Germain
Date: 08 October 2022
Venue: Stade Auguste-Delaune II
The Ligue 1 champions were without Lionel Messi due to injury, while Neymar started on the bench as Carlos Soler and Pablo Sarabia joined Kylian Mbappe in the attack.
Mbappe nearly carved out the opening goal on 13 minutes when his through-ball was deflected into the path of Fabian Ruiz, who saw his strike turned away by goalkeeper Yehvann Diouf.
Reims looked lively on the counter-attack at times, with Arsenal loanee Folarin Balogun causing a bit of havoc with his pace and skill out wide.
The home side did go close to taking the lead 10 minutes before the break through Marshall Munetsi's powerful volley, but goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma produced a fine save.
However, PSG were forced to play the rest of the game with 10 men after Sergio Ramos was sent off after picking up his second yellow card of the encounter.
Instead of bringing on another defender, PSG coach Christopher Galtier withdrew Marco Veratti and introduced attacking midfielder Vitinha at the start of the second half.
Neymar eventually made his way onto the park just before the hour mark, with Soler making way in the attack as they pushed for an opening goal.
The change nearly paid off instantly when Mbappe threaded a pass for Neymar, who took one touch before sending his strike just wide of Diouf's goal.
The French champions continued to throw bodies forward in search of a winning goal, but Reims showed great resilience to hold off the likes of Neymar and Mbappe to secure a point, as PSG drop points for the second time this season.
