Mauricio Pochettino made two changes to his PSG side that were beaten by Real Madrid, with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Marco Verratti dropping out and being replaced by Keylor Navas and Georginio Wijnaldum.
Bordeaux had a magnificent opportunity within the very first minute of the match. Right-back Remi Oudin was left with a lot of space on the edge of the penalty area and unleashed a strike towards the top right corner, which forced Navas into making a superb save to tip it around the post.
PSG were all over the place at the back as five minutes later Hwang Ui-Jo got in behind the defence and made Navas get down quickly to make the save, but the South Korean was offside anyway.
Kylian Mbappe gave PSG the lead in the 24th minute. Messi played it to Wijnaldum on the edge of the box, who flicked the ball around the corner for Mbappe and the Frenchman hammered the ball past the goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
The game went through a lull as the pace dropped with PSG creating no real opportunities until the 54th minute when the lead was doubled by Neymar. Messi found a pocket and slipped it to Hakimi in behind down the right, who squared to Neymar in the six-yard box and the Brazilian made no mistake from close range.
Leandro Paredes made it 3-0 just after the hour mark. Neymar's effort was blocked and the ball bobbled around the box before finding its way to Paredes, who dribbled past two defenders and finished into the top right corner.
Hakimi came close with just under ten minutes to go with a typically powerful long-range effort which left the goalkeeper breathing a sigh of relief as it went just over the crossbar.
Messi almost got in on the act when he struck the woodwork from the edge of the box, after PSG had countered quickly and his shot appeared to be heading in, but the post came to the visitors' rescue.
