Real Madrid President Finally Responds To Zinedine Zidane's Exit Letter

Real Madrid President Finally Responds To Zinedine Zidane's Exit Letter

Real Madrid president Florentino Prerez has finally broken his silence on Zinedine Zidane's letter that explains why he left the club.

Zidane stepped down as Los Blancos manager for a second time after the club ended the 2020/2021 season without a trophy.

The Frenchman detailed in the farewell letter that he felt the Spanish giants had no longer had confidence in him, a statement which Perez has denied although he claims he did not read the latter.

"I know him [Zidane] and it has been a hard year, I fought for him to stay," Perez told Spanish radio station Onda Cero's Transistor programme.

"I have not read the farewell letter, I swear on my grandchildren. The person who wrote that letter was not Zidane.

"I wish him well, he has been a legend for Real Madrid and he has all of our recognition, he has the dream of being the French coach and I'm sure he will achieve it."

During his two stints with the Madrid outfit, Zidane led the club to 11 trophies which include three UEFA Champions League titles and two LaLiga crowns.

Los Blancos have since replaced Zidane with their former manager Carlo Ancelotti, who worked alongside the Frenchman during his first spell.
