The Spanish giants have taken to social media to confirm that Real Betis right-back Emerson Royal will be brought back to the club, two years after he joined the LaLiga side for 6 million (R100 million).

Emerson initially signed for the Blaugrana from Atletico Mineiro in 2019, and is understood to have only been on loan at Betis.

Barca, though, say they have exercised their option to take the 22-year-old back to the Camp Nou, writing on their website that they have "have informed Real Betis Balompie that they are exercising their right to bring back Emerson Royal from 1 July after two seasons on loan at the Andalusian club".

Emerson made 79 appearances for Betis over the past two years, contributing to an impressive 15 assists along the way.
