LaLiga: Real Edge Past Mallorca, Felix Rescues Barca

Real Mallorca 0-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid consolidated their eight-point lead at the top of the LaLiga table after edging Mallorca 1-0 at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.

Madrid made five changes from their 3-3 draw against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League quarter-final first-leg, as Joselu and Brahim Diaz took the places of the rested Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo, alongside the return of Luka Modric, Nacho and Lucas Vazquez.

Los Blancos had a dominant first stanza despite the sides heading to the break without goals, with plenty of chances created by the visitors.

Aurelien Tchouameni hitting the woodwork for Carlo Ancelotti's charges shortly before the half-hour mark, as the closest they came to breaking the deadlock.

Tchouameni eventually sent Los Blancos ahead within three minutes from the interval with a screamer from range.

Madrid largely absorbed the pressure in the latter stages and were happy to walk away with a narrow win.

Ancelotti's troops are eight points clear at the top of the standings with seven games to play.

Cadiz 0-1 Barcelona

Barcelona kept their hopes of challenging Real Madrid for the title after a narrow 1-0 win over Cadiz at Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla.

With the UEFA Champions League quarter-final second-leg against Paris Saint-Germain on the horizon, Barca rested the bulk of their regulars, as only goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Pau Cubarsi and Sergi Roberto remained, although Robert Lewandowski and Joao Cancelo were suspended.

After knocking on the door a few times, Joao Felix eventually broke the deadlock for Blaugrana eight minutes before the break with a spectacular over-head kick on the far side from a corner.

Cadiz were spirited in the second stanza and Diadie Samassekou came close to the equaliser ten minutes before time with a rocket from range that was acrobatically saved by Ter Stegen at full-stretch.

Barca are eight points behind leaders Los Blancos in second spot on the table, with seven matches left of the season and the El Clasico still to play.

Atletico Madrid 3-1 Girona

Atletico Madrid cemented their top four spot after thrashing Girona 3-1 thanks to a brace by Antoine Griezmann at Metropolitano Stadium.

Artem Dovbyk gave Girona an early lead with only four minutes on the clock but Griezmann levelled matters for Madrid just after the half-hour mark.

Angel Correa gave Diego Simeone's charges the lead on the stroke of half-time and Griezmann established a two-goal cushion early in the second stanza and completed his brace.
