FC Barcelona have a target on their backs this season after they dominated the 2024/25 LALIGA campaign to claim a 28th league title to snatch it back from eternal rivals Real Madrid.
The Blaugrana kicked off the new season with a convincing 3-0 win over Mallorca, spearheaded by Ballon d'Or candidates Raphinha and Lamine Yamal.
Real Madrid, who played the final game of the first matchweek on Tuesday night, were 1-0 winners over Osasuna as Kylian Mbappe scored a second-half penalty to pick up where he left off last season.
There were also wins for Athletic Club and Villarreal, while Atletico Madrid were surprisingly beaten 2-1 by Espanyol in their league opener.
Looking at the league's top earners, Real Madrid's new signing, Trent Alexander-Arnold, cracks the top 10 after his move to Los Blancos from Liverpool. The Englishman is one of five Real Madrid players on the list.
Athletic Club's Nico Williams and Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak are the only players not to play for one of the El Clásico teams.
