FC Barcelona have provided up update on Senegal international Moussa Wague, who is currently on loan in Greece and recently endured a career-threatening collision with a goalpost.
The 22-year-old, who is currently on loan at PAOK Salonika in Greece, collided with a goalpost as he put his body on the line to stop a certain goal last week.
Wague's incredible defending came at a threatening expense as replay footage showed his right knee smashing into the post, leaving the Senegal international in severe pain.
The aftermath of his sliding goal-saving effort led many to predict that his career could be over, but parent club Barcelona have announced that he has undergone a successful operation.
"The operation was performed by Dr Ramon Cugat under supervision of the FC Barcelona medical team," the club wrote on its official website.
"The Senegalese footballer has also ruptured posterior cruciate ligaments and has undergone conservative treatment.
"He will be out of action for an estimated nine months, and will remain in Barcelona for the recovery period."
