According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Blaugrana are keen on extending the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner's contract in the coming days.
The French winger seems to have restored his touch since the appointment of Xavi and the five-time European champions want to tie him down the France international to a new deal before his €50 million (R975 million) release clause kicks in at the end of the season.
Dembele's current deal with the LaLiga leaders comes to an end after the 2023/24 campaign, and Romano suggests that the decision to extend lies with the former Borussia Dortmund forward.
Clubs can acquire the Vernon native before a Barca extension is possible, but it will cost any interested party €100 million (R1.9 billion).

Dembele and his representatives were embroiled in a protracted contract saga at the end of last season when it seemed likely that the attacker was on course to leave the Camp Nou, but he and the Catalan giants were finally able to find a resolution and he has since played an integral part in what looks to be Barca's first championship coronation in four years.
Paris Saint-Germain, who tried to sign Dembele during the off-season, are still reportedly interested in winger.
