Antoine Griezmann Comments On Goals, Explains Extravagant Celebration

Following his impressive brace and a unique celebration in FC Barcelona's 5-2 win over Real Betis on Sunday night, new signing Antoine Griezmann discussed the inspiration behind his glittering showing, and had a special shoutout for superstar Lionel Messi.

The 28-year-old equalised for the Catalans just before half-time, and scored his second of the night five minutes after the break. While his first celebration was a subdued one, perhaps due to Barca still finding their feet in the game at the time, his second was a spectacle.

After curling the ball around the goalkeeper from inside the Betis box with his left foot, Griezmann first enjoyed the moment with his new teammates, before going alone to one of the corners of the stadium where a member of the club's staff poured confetti into his hands.

Griezmann then threw the Barca-coloured glitter into the air, creating a picture-perfect moment to celebrate his team going ahead.

Speaking after the game, the France international explained how basketball icon LeBron James inspired his confetti show.

"I like the ritual that LeBron James does before the games and I tried to copy him," he said, according to Sport.

"I hope I can keep copying him for many more games, that would be the best signal."

He also joked that his second goal was something he had learned from Messi, who missed the game through injury.

"I saw Leo (Messi) do that in training and I copied him," he added.

Griezmann also added an assist in the Blaugrana's victory on Sunday night, meaning he has contributed to three goals in two matches for his new club.
