Some of Africa's brightest stars showcased their talents in the 2023/24 campaign of the Spanish top division. New names established themselves as top representatives from the continent, but ultimately it was Inaki Williams who won the award for the best performing African in the latest iteration of LALIGA, succeeding Yassine Bounou and Samuel Chukwueze as award winners.

So far, the Ghana international is enjoying the second-most prolific campaign of his Athletic Bilbao career, having scored 12 goals and provided three assists in the 34 league matches he has played.

Only his 2018/19 output eclipses his achievements in front of goal this season, and along with being the latest winner of the Africa MVP award, the Spanish-born Black Stars attacker is also the highest earner from Africa in the division. Williams in believed to take home a massive €219 231 (R4.3 million) in wages as he is also the highest earner in the league that does not play for either Real Madrid, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid.

Click through the gallery below to see who the 10 highest paid African players in LALIGA this season are, according to Capology:

Inaki Williams
1. Inaki Williams (Ghana Athletic Bilbao) - €219 231

Williams changed his international allegiance from Spain to the Black Stars in 2022, and the player who ran him the closest in the MVP race is another who recently changed their Spanish nationality to an African powerhouse. Earlier this season, Brahim Diaz elected to switch from La Furia Roja to become the latest addition to the Moroccan national team, and this coincided with the attacker having the most productive campaign of his career so far.

The 24-year-old has starred mostly coming off the bench for Real this season, but whenever he has been called upon by Carlo Ancelotti, he has produced, and this has seen him amass eight goals and seven assists in the Spanish top flight. The Malaga-born winger is also handsomely paid in Madrid as he is believed to earn €140 192 (R2.7 million) on a weekly basis.

While Youssef En-Nesyri completed the podium standings in the tussle for the African MVP award, he does not get to have the same honour regarding the best-paid Africans in LALIGA. That honour belongs to 28-year-old Jonathan Bamba.

While the Ivorian may not have had the best of seasons in an up-and-down Celta Vigo side, the attacker did win the Africa Cup of Nations with the Elephants, helping them become the first African side since Egypt in 2006 to win the tournament on home soil. Bamba is believed to earn €80 000 (R1.5 million) in weekly wages in Spain.
