The world's oldest professional footballer, who turns 56 years old this year, has joined a new club to continue his playing career that has spanned five decades.

Japanese legend Kazuyoshi Miura, 55, has joined Portuguese outfit Oliveirense, currently competing in the European country's second tier, on loan from parent club Yokohama FC.
"Even though this is a new place for me, I'll work hard to show everyone the kind of play I'm known for," he said after joining the club, according to the Daily Mirror.
The striker is, incredibly, in his fifth decade as a professional player, having first turned out for Brazilian giants Santos in 1986 before going on to enjoy a successful 10-year international career with Japan.

Miura scored an impressive 55 goals in 89 matches for his country between 1990 and 2000, winning the Asia Cup in 1992.
The forward has represented a number of top clubs in his career, including Genoa in Italy and Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia.

Among the many records Miura holds, he is the oldest goalscorer in the history of Japanese football and is still the oldest footballer still active.
